Take It Off: No Shoes! No Accessories!

File Type Package
Version 4.2.3
Last Update Mar 15, 2025

Description

Take It Off: No Shoes! No Accessories! automatically removes shoes, socks, glasses, and hats from Sims in situations where wearing them looks unrealistic.

The mod was originally based on an idea by ShuSanR. After he announced in February 2022 that he would stop modding and playing The Sims 4, the mod was fully adopted. The code was completely rewritten from scratch, making this a fundamentally new and independently maintained mod.

Core Functionality

By default, the mod automatically removes:

  • Shoes, socks, glasses, and hats when Sims fall asleep in beds or sleeping bags
  • Shoes and socks when Sims swim
  • Shoes and socks when Sims play in fountains

Sofas and casual relaxing interactions are not affected.

This behavior fixes several cases where the game does not reliably remove footwear or accessories on its own.

Modular Addons

The download archive contains multiple optional modules for fine-grained control:

  • Take It Off – MOD CORE (required)
  • Addon: Always Keep Glasses (optional)
  • Addon: Always Keep Hats (optional)
  • Addon: Keep Shoes When Relaxing (optional)
  • Addon: Keep Socks When Relaxing (optional)

This modular system allows you to customize the automation exactly to your liking.

Design Notes

  • Designed for Base Game compatibility
  • Does not use Snowy Escape shoe-removal animations
  • No EA interactions or resources are overridden

Similar mods exist that rely on overrides. This mod intentionally avoids overriding tunings to ensure better stability and patch safety.
